Google Assistant has been constantly in the news with updates for enhanced user experience. Now the digital assistant lets you book a cab ride with ride-hailing service providers like Uber, Ola, Lyft, Grab, GO-JEK or similar services right within the assistant itself. The feature works internationally with 18 different ride-hailing services. You can either request a service of a particular company or place a generic request like “Hey Google! Book a ride to” your destination. Then the Google Assistant displays all the available ride service providers along with their prices. It even displays the estimated wait time for the service providers. However, for booking the ride, the assistant directs you to the mobile app of the service provider.
How Google Assistant Helps you Book a Cab Ride?
Nevertheless, it has its fair share of advantages though! You no longer need to toggle between multiple apps to go through the options. Earlier, when you order for a cab ride in the assistant it directs you to the Google Maps for the list of providers along with their pricelists. Now the information is displayed within the assistant itself. The current feature works on Android, iPhone, Google Home and other smart speakers with built-in Google Assistant. According to Google, the new ride requests would be available only in English and would be operable in the areas where the service providers exist. It then plans to extend the feature to more languages in the coming months.

Google Assistant’s new feature comes in handy when you quickly want to compare prices and book a cab ride for yourself. According to Google’s director for Assistant Lilian Rincon, having the same feature in the Google Maps made it easier to implement in the assistant. The support of the new feature to the smart displays is coming soon. The feature is rolling out this week, so you won’t be able to use it immediately.
