Google blocks chrome support for millions of users

Bad news for old Mac users! Google will now stop supporting chrome for older versions of Mac OS X. The latest chrome supported version has been listed as Mac OS 10.10. So, that means Apple Mac users who are using the older operating system must update it immediately. According to StatCounter report, about 3.8 per cent users are still running Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Majority of the users are still content with the Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and have not updated to the latest version OS.

Google Blocks Chrome Support: Details

It might sound minuscule proportions, but currently, there are 180 million Apple Mac users globally. So, 3.8 per cent roughly translates to 6,084,000 users who can’t get Chrome support. Apple released the Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks in 2013. Some users have reported that their chrome browsers are automatically updated to a version that requires Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite.

Apple also reported that any Macbook released before 2012 with older hardware won’t support the update to latest OS. So, this is rather frustrating and the users needed to upgrade their devices or else the users with old machines might experience slow loading speeds of Chrome browsers. The latest Apple version is Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra or 10.14 Mojave in Beta.

Furthermore, Chrome has listed Mac OS 10.10 as the oldest supported version. It further adds insult to the injury. However, for users who wanted to update Mac OS to the latest version to run chrome, the update is free.
