Amazon will Sell live 7-Foot Christmas Trees this Holiday Season

There is good news waiting in store this holiday season. The shopping giant Amazon has announced that it would start shipping live  7-foot Christmas trees this holiday season. The e-commerce giant has announced that it would start shipping the giant trees from the coming November. Also, it will be available for prime shipping. The company said it would ship the trees in a large box, but it does not plan to include any water or for that matter anything extra in the box. The trees would reach the customers within 10 days of cutting so that they stay green.

It was not the first time Amazon is selling trees online. Earlier in 2017, the online giant has sold small live Christmas trees. Third-party sellers also used the platform to sell their own large trees. Apart from this the company also sells wreaths, garlands and other holiday items. Also, the customer has the option to chose the desired delivery date to receive the items. Among the tree varieties that would be sold include Douglas firs, Norfolk Island pines, and others. Coming to the pricing, a 7-foot Fraser fir would cost you $115.

However, online shopping does not seem to have played a larger role earlier as evidenced by the statistics of the National Christmas tree association. According to it, web orders accounted for only 1-2% of the total 27 million Christmas trees sold last year. It can be attributed to two reasons: Firstly, people enjoy the fun tradition of going out and selecting their desired fresh tree. Secondly, you have the option to choose for yourself the desired Christmas tree without any holes in the sides. Given the minuscule scale of online shopping last year, it would be interesting to see how customers turn up this holiday season.
